Cauliflower?…More like CauliPower!

Cauliflower might just be one of the most versatile vegetables, here are 2 new ways to try cauliflower.

Why We love it:  Cauliflower is not only a great vegetable, but makes a great substitute for things such as meat, pizza dough, or rice. Because of it’s more neutral flavor, Cauliflower is perfect at absorbing any flavor that it is cooked with. Cauliflower is available in markets year round, but peak time to buy some in your local markets is in Spring and Autumn

Versatility is key. One of my favorite ways to use cauliflower is as an appetizer. When we present vegetables in different ways they can become more appealing to people who aren’t inclined to eat them. Having a vegetable that is so versatile, allows us more room for creativity to broaden our recipe book. The great thing about appetizers is that they can also serve as a main course as well. What’s even better is our recipe for General Tso’s Cauliflower, serves as great appetizer, great meal, and even better meat substitute for individuals who are trying to incorporate more vegetables into their lives.

Zero waste ways to use cauliflower… Other ways to enjoy cauliflower could be in a pizza crust, rice, or just simply oven roasted with some garlic and parmesan cheese. What’s great about these recipes is that they use the entirety of the cauliflower. It’s Important that we try to lessen our amount of food waste, not only for the price of food, but for our planet.

Next up try this recipe.. Seared Cauliflower Steaks with Mustard, Thyme + Brussels

Slicing the cauliflower in “steaks” gives them 2 flat sides that will become beautifully caramelized in the sauté pan. Little pieces will fall off but you can just cook them alongside and serve them on top. Don’t worry about being too fussy about it. This recipe is also great for using the entirety of the cauliflower. It is a great entry on how to try different flavor pairs, and open a gateway of creativity for meat substitutes.
