Ultimate Summer Recipe Roundup

August 3, 2020
Back to Blog

Summer cooking is the best. Produce is at its most colorful, variable, and just downright happy! To kick off August, I thought we can do a little round up of some of my favorite recipes and Ends+Stems customer favorites too. Let us know if you cook anything, you tag me on facebook or instagram @endsandstems.

My dad’s signature dish when I was kid was the Hot Dog Sandwich. He would cut the ‘dogs in four then layer it on a hamburger bun, served with a side of cool ranch Doritos and a giant glass of Mt. Dew on ice. I liked mine plain, no condiments of any kind. Honestly, I can get behind a hot dog but I’d prefer a quality sausage, not cut in four, and definitely top it with this awesome chowchow. Please, hold the Mt. Dew, forever.

Anything wrapped in bread in a win in my book, so perhaps this dish is repetitive in that way, but summer eating means easy, fewer dishes, and bright, crunchy veggies. Add grilled chicken slices if you prefer but don’t skimp on the sliced tomatoes and tzatziki sauce.

At least once every summer, you have to make something that shows off a rainbow of heirloom tomatoes. This galette is great warm but also at room temperature. I’ve often served this as brunch or an appetizer.

Last but not least, Corn Chowder. As a New Englander, chowder is something I take very seriously. I like it creamy but not too thick and gluey, the potato should be just tender but not falling apart. There are only a few slices of bacon, so make them high quality. I hope you use fresh corn off the cob to make this soon!
